1. Who can use Share-a-thon
Share-a-thon is built for schools, clubs, churches, youth programs, nonprofits, and the adults who administer them. Each organization must have a designated adult administrator who is 18+ and has authority to act on behalf of their organization. Students under 13 may participate only with admin approval and never have their personal information published.
2. Donations and fundraiser types
Donations are processed by our payments partner Stripe. Each campaign is configured with one of four fundraiser types selected by the organization at setup:
- Default (Open Share): 60% to the campaign, 20% to the supporter whose share brought in the donation, 20% to the platform.
- Share-a-thon Club: 60% to the campaign, 20% allocated to the Share Fund (paid to the referring organization once a referral relationship exists), 20% to the platform.
- Club Extreme: 40% to the campaign, 20% to the parent or student sharer, 20% to the Share Fund, 20% to the platform.
- Plain mode: 80% to the campaign, 20% to the platform, with no sharer reward and no Share Fund.
Sharer rewards are paid by ACH transfer to the sharer's connected bank account, or as a digital gift card delivered by email. Adult sharers (18+) choose their payout method at redemption. Sharers under 18 are paid as a digital gift card only — no ACH payouts to minors. Sharer rewards are single-level only — there is no multi-level structure, no recruiting, no quotas, and no purchase required to share. The sharer is not an employee or contractor of Share-a-thon, and we make no guarantee of earnings. If no sharer is attributable to a donation on Default or Club Extreme, the reward portion remains with the platform.
3. Share Fund and reward delivery
On Share-a-thon Club and Club Extreme campaigns, Share Fund amounts are held until allocated to a referring organization and paid out on a regular cadence (typically monthly). ACH sharer payouts are delivered through our payments partner Stripe. Digital gift cards are delivered by email through our third-party gift-card provider. Unclaimed payouts that remain unredeemed after a reasonable follow-up window may revert to the platform; supporters can contact us to recover an unclaimed reward.
4. Payouts
Campaign funds are disbursed to the bank account connected by the organization's admin. Payouts typically settle within 2–7 business days. Recipients are responsible for any applicable taxes.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Share-a-thon for fraud, harassment, hate speech, illegal fundraising, or anything that endangers minors. We reserve the right to remove campaigns, refund donations, and terminate accounts that violate these rules.
6. Content
You retain rights to content you upload. You grant Share-a-thon a license to display it in connection with the platform. Admins approve every public share involving students.
7. Liability
Share-a-thon is provided "as is" without warranty. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages.
8. Changes
We may update these terms. Material changes will be communicated to active admins via email and posted here.
