Refunds & disputes

Donations are gifts, but mistakes happen. Here's our straightforward refund policy and how we work through disputes.

1. The 14-day window

If you change your mind, made a typo, or charged the wrong card, email support@shareathon.com within 14 days of the donation and we'll refund it in full, as long as the funds haven't been paid out to the organization yet.

2. After payout

Once funds have moved to the organization (typically after a campaign closes), refunds are at the organization's discretion. We'll loop them in and try to help.

3. How long refunds take

Refunds are issued back to the original card. Card networks usually return funds within 5-10 business days.

4. What's non-refundable

  • Standard card-processing fees charged by Stripe.
  • Donations explicitly marked as final by the campaign (e.g., event tickets after the event).

5. Duplicate or unrecognized charges

If you see a charge you don't recognize from Shareathon, please email us first. We can almost always identify the campaign and resolve it the same day. A chargeback through your bank can take 60+ days and may cost the org you supported.

6. Fraudulent or coerced donations

If a donation was made using a card without the cardholder's permission, contact safety@shareathon.com. We'll refund and work with our payment processor on next steps.

7. Disputes between donors and orgs

If a donor and an organization disagree about how a gift should be handled, Shareathon's role is to facilitate, not adjudicate. We'll share relevant facts (when the donation occurred, status, payout state) with both sides.
