Carrots & Rewards Terms

These terms describe how Shareathon's carrots program works: what carrots are, how they may convert into redeemable value, the minimums required to redeem, and what happens to balances that aren't redeemed in time.

1. What carrots are

"Carrots" are promotional reward units inside the Shareathon platform, operated by Hog Wild Fundraising LLC ("Shareathon," "we," "us"). Carrots are not currency, not securities, not a stored-value product, and have no cash value except as expressly redeemed under these terms. Carrots are non-transferable between accounts and may not be sold, gifted, or assigned.

2. Two ledgers, one wallet

Each Shareathon account holds two kinds of carrots in a single wallet:

  • Donation Carrots represent your share of actual donations received through your personal share link, based on the plan split disclosed at the time you join a campaign. Donation Carrots are eligible for redemption subject to the minimums and conditions below.
  • Action Carrots are promotional points earned through participation in the platform (for example, completing setup steps, daily activity, streaks, and recognized milestones). Action Carrots have no independent cash value. A portion of Action Carrots may be converted into Donation Carrots from time to time as a promotional bonus, subject to the conditions below.

3. Conversion of Action Carrots

Conversion of Action Carrots into Donation Carrots is a promotional feature, not a guaranteed payout. We publish the current conversion ratio, per-campaign caps, and eligibility rules inside the app. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue conversion at any time, including but not limited to adjustments based on fraud risk, program economics, or the availability of the breakage fund described below. No user is entitled to any specific conversion ratio.

4. Minimum to redeem

Redemption requires reaching the in-app redemption minimum (currently $100 of Donation Carrots). Balances below the minimum are not redeemable, do not accrue interest, and are not paid out at account closure. The minimum is disclosed in-app and may be updated; updates apply prospectively to balances earned after the change.

5. Redemption window

Donation Carrots must be redeemed within the redemption window disclosed in-app (currently three (3) months from the date earned). Any balance not redeemed before the end of its window expires and is forfeited. We provide reminders in-app and by email as the window approaches; it is your responsibility to redeem in time.

6. Breakage

Amounts that are not redeemed — including expired Donation Carrots, unconverted Action Carrots, and balances that never reach the redemption minimum — are collectively referred to as "breakage." Breakage is retained by Shareathon and used to fund platform operations, fraud protection, customer support, and the ongoing promotional rewards program.

Breakage is not returned to any specific campaign, organization, donor, or sharer. Donors are informed at the time of donation that their full contribution supports the recipient campaign and the platform that delivered it. By participating in the rewards program you acknowledge and agree to this treatment of breakage.

7. Eligibility & anti-abuse

  • You must meet the minimum age and identity-verification requirements disclosed at signup and at redemption.
  • You may not self-donate to inflate your own balance, use bots or automated tooling, create duplicate accounts, or otherwise manipulate the rewards program.
  • No purchase is necessary to earn Action Carrots. Donations are donations and are processed separately from any promotional rewards.
  • We may withhold, claw back, or forfeit balances; suspend conversions; or close accounts that violate these terms, our Acceptable Use Policy, or our Terms of Service.

8. Taxes

Recipients of any redeemed value are solely responsible for any taxes owed on that value. Where required by law, we will collect taxpayer information and issue applicable tax forms (for example, IRS Form 1099 in the United States) before processing a redemption above the reporting threshold.

9. Program changes

We may change the carrots program at any time, including conversion ratios, daily and lifetime caps, redemption minimums, redemption windows, badge criteria, and program rules. Material changes will be disclosed in-app and, where appropriate, by email. Continued use of the platform after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

10. Proprietary mechanics

The specific algorithms, thresholds, multipliers, anti-abuse signals, and detection rules that power the carrots program are proprietary to Shareathon and are disclosed at our discretion. Nothing in these terms grants any user a right to receive details of those internal mechanics.

11. No fundraising guarantee

Participation in the rewards program does not guarantee any particular fundraising result, donation volume, or earnings. Earnings depend on actual donations received through your share link and on the plan split disclosed at the time you joined.

12. Relationship to other terms

These Carrots & Rewards Terms supplement, and do not replace, our Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and Refunds & Disputes policy. If there is a conflict between these terms and the Terms of Service on a topic specific to the rewards program, these terms control for that topic.
